Australia and New Zealand
Depart the US on board an international carrier for Sydney.
All meals served on board as well as complimentary beverages, movies, and earphones for your travel comfort. Cross the International Date Line and arrive in Sydney.
Upon arrival and after customs formalities, meet the awaiting tour guide and motor coach. Embark on a ½ day sightseeing tour of Sydney including the historic Rocks area, Harbour Bridge, and a photo stop at Mrs. Macquarie’s Chair. Travel past Darling Harbour and through the exclusive suburbs of Double and Rose Bays to the Gap for a view of the harbour entrance. Independent lunch then transfer to Bondi Beach with free time to enjoy the area. Continue to the hotel for check and dinner. Overnight in Sydney.
Breakfast at the hotel. Depart for a full day of sightseeing. Travel to Australia’s Wildlife Park to enjoy the native animals. Independent lunch, then depart for the Blue Mountains to visit the Blue Mountains National Park, ride the Scenic Railway and to see the Three Sisters. Return to Sydney for dinner at an Italian restaurant in the Rocks. Overnight in Sydney.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, followed by hotel checkout. Transfer to the Opera House for a tour, and then continue to the Wharf for an independent lunch. A harbour cruise concludes your time in Sydney prior to the airport transfer to board the short flight to Cairns. Upon arrival in Cairns, meet the awaiting motor coach and transfer to the hotel for check-in via a short sightseeing tour. Dinner in a local restaurant and overnight in Cairns.
Hotel breakfast precedes the transfer to Cairns train station for a journey about the Kuranda Scenic train to Kuranda. On arrival enjoy ample time to browse and shop prior to the BBQ lunch at the Rain forest station, a performance by Pamagirri Aborigianl Dance group and a tour throughout the rain forest in an amphibious Army Duck. Visit the Koala and Wildlife Park where you can hand feed kangaroos and view the crocodiles. Return to Cairns by motor coach or Skyrail. Dinner in a local restaurant and overnight in Cairns.
Breakfast at the hotel precedes the transfer to the airport for the flight to Melbourne. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel for check-in with the remainder of the afternoon at leisure. Melbourne has compelling appeal in its gardens, history, character and charm. This evening, witness the journey of the Fairy Penguins as they come home from the sea at Phillip Island. From the waves - across the beach - to the sand dunes - the penguins can almost be touched as they waddle to their burrows. This nightly ritual of the little flightless birds will enthrall you!! Dinner and overnight in Melbourne.
Morning sightseeing including a scenic cruise on the Yarra River, a comprehensive look at Melbourne's highlights, and a visit to the beautiful Blue Dandenongs National Park. Dinner in a local restaurant and overnight in Melbourne.
visit the highlights of Christchurch including Cathedral Square with Christchurch Cathedral and the “Wizard” of Christchurch providing entertainment for the crowd. Visit the Arts Centre, the Canterbury Museum, the Botanic Gardens, and Mona Vale ~ one of Christchurch’s historic homes with 5 ½ hectares of gorgeous gardens. Enjoy a 2-hour cruise on the Akaroa Harbour. While cruising the harbour, you will have the opportunity to sight the New Zealand native, the Hector’s Dolphin, penguins and seals. Dinner and overnight Christchurch. (B/D)
Today after breakfast we depart to the airport for our flight from Christchurch to Aukland. After our arrival, we will transfer to our hotel for check in. Afterwards, we enjoy a tour of the city including: the War Memorial Museum, Parnell Village, Ewelme Cottage and Kinder House ~ splendid examples of early colonial homesteads, and Savage Memorial Lookout ~ a delightful sunken gardens with stunning harbor views. Today after breakfast we take an exciting excursion to Warkwoth and Sheep World! Watch wool shearing and sheep dogs at work on a working farm. There will be time for lunch. Return to Aukland. The rest of the afternoon is free to enjoy at your leisure. (B.L.)
After celebrating mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the rest of the afternoon is free to enjoy at your leisure. Time for last minute shopping before departing to the airport for our flight home. (B)
