Fatima
Depart on transatlantic flight to Portugal. Enjoy dinner served aboard overnight flight.
Arrive early morning in Lisbon where group will be met by tour guide and transferred to Fatima. Enjoy the beautiful Portuguese scenery! En route to hotel, visit Santarem to view the “Miracle of the Bleeding Host.” In the evening enjoy a video presentation by the Consolata Fathers on the history of Fatima. Dinner and overnight in Fatima.
After enjoying breakfast at hotel, take a morning visit to the holy places at the Shrine of Fatima, including the Basilica, with the tombs of the children; the Chapel of the Apparitions (Capelinha), and the Miraculous Fountain. Afternoon visit to Aljustrel, the hamlet where the three children were raised; Valinhos, where Our Lady appeared in August 1917 after the children were released from prison; and the Fatima church where the children were baptized. Dinner and overnight in Fatima.
Depart Fatima after breakfast for Braga. En route, make a brief stop in Coimbra for a visit to the Carmelite Monastery, where Sister Lucia lived out her life. Continue to Braga for a visit to Bom Jesus and the “Holy Mountain of Sameiro.” Dinner and overnight in Braga.
Depart Braga after breakfast for Pontevedra. Upon arrival, enjoy an orientation tour of Pontevedra, a city which dates back to the Roman times. A highlight of the day will be the visit to the 16th century church Santa Maria la Mayor. Balance of the day at leisure. Dinner and overnight in Pontevedra.
After breakfast depart hotel for full day excursion to the medieval city of Santiago de Compostela. The group will celebrate Mass at the Cathedral St. James and enjoy an orientation tour of one of Europe’s most spectacular basilicas. After visiting the cathedral, make plans to stop by the Archbishop’s Palace, the Plaza Del Obradoiro (one of the most famous squares in Santiago), and Rajoy Palace, presently being used as the city hall. Balance of the day at leisure in Santiago. Return to Pontevedra for dinner and overnight.
Depart after breakfast for Oporto. Enjoy an orientation tour of Portugal’s second largest city. Oporto is famous for its wine production and a visit to a winery will be included, if time allows. Dinner and overnight in Lisbon area.
After breakfast you will be escorted to the airport for your return flight to the USA.
