Day 1 - Departure
Depart on transatlantic flight to Frankfurt

Day 2 - Frankfurt / Heidelberg
Arrival Frankfurt. Transfer to hotel in Heidelberg for check-in. Afternoon tour of Heidelberg, including the Castle. Welcome dinner (drinks included) and overnight at the hotel. (D)

Day 3 - Rhine cruise
After breakfast, transfer to Rudesheim and board a Rhine Steamer for a 2-hour cruise down the Rhine River. Lunch on your own after the cruise. This afternoon, enjoy a scenic ride back to Heidelberg with a stop in Worms to visit St. Peter's Cathedral. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Heidelberg. (B/D)

Day 4 - Rothenberg
Today we travel to the 16th century Rothenburg ~ a quaint medieval town with ramparts, towers and cobbled lanes Visit the highlights of Rothenburg. Dinner and overnight Rothenburg. (B/D)

Day 5 - Munich
After breakfast we travel to Munich, Germany’s secret capital. We will visit Nymphenburg Palace, the Oktoberfest area and Marienplatz with the Old and New Town Hall. Also visit some of Munich’s beautiful churches, the most famous being St. Paul’s. Enjoy ample time for shopping at Stachus. (A large underground shopping center). Dinner on your own. Overnight Munich. (B)

Day 6 - Alotting / Freising
After breakfast, an excursion to Alotting. Visit the Shrine of the Virgin of Alotting where Pope John Paul visited in 1980. Also, see the Holy Chapel of the Virgin of Alotting. Then continue on to Freising to visit its Cathedral and St. Mary’s Cathedral, and the Benedictine Abbey of Weihenstephan. Return to Munich for dinner and overnight. (B/D)

Day 7 - Oberammergau / Neuschwanstein
After breakfast we begin our day of sightseeing in the southern Bavarian Alps. We will visit Neuschwanstein ~ Germany’s premier tourist attraction, and Mad King Ludwig’s fairytale castle, Linderhof Castle. Then continue on to Oberammergau to explore the Passion Play village. Return to Munich. Dinner on your own. Overnight Munich (B)

Day 8 - Munich
Today is a full day guided at leisure (guide available upon request). Explore Munich at your leisure, browse the many shops or take an optional tour. Dinner on your own. Overnight Munich (B)

Day 9 - Munich / USA
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your return flight home. (B)
